As disease prevention awareness grows, researchers look for ways to diagnose disease in its earliest stages. Biomarkers are commonly used to indicate the presence of proteins which will lead to uncontrolled cell division, ie, cancerous tumors. By highlighting these proteins with effective staining, the presence of cancer at the protein level can be easily detected.

The Morpheus microscope can identify biomarkers and provide physicians invaluable information with which to make an early diagnosis of a cancerous condition. After a stained slide is loaded into the optical microscope, the software takes control of the microscope stage, positioning every portion of the sample under the objective lens automatically for 100% specimen coverage. High resolution digital images are captured of every field of view and analyzed for the presence of the biomarker. Once the biomarker has been detected, the Morpheus microscope software records each location of the marker so that the physician may review each area quickly.
